Thundercats Movie Trailer?

Thundercats LogoAssuming I have any readers left after my long Christmas hiatus, this post should be of particular interest to any who (like me) were children of the ’80’s.

I used to love the “Thundercats” cartoon when I was growing up…

  1. Good to have you back and blogging again. Not that I’m one to talk.

I’m torn on the movie trailer. I was never really into Thundercats, so I have no nostalgic connection – otherwise I might be more intrigued. On it’s own, it’s some good work and could make an interesting movie. Though watching people with paint on their face for even 90 minutes would get old after a bit.

Also, I’m pretty sure I saw Wolverine with face paint in that trailer as well.

  2. You know, I think you’re right about Wolverine…

As for Thundercats…obviously I’ve got the nostalgic connection, but I’ve gone back and watched some of those classic ’80’s shows, and they haven’t aged well — Thundercats included. Along the lines of TMNT, it’s pretty high concept stuff, but TMNT is lucky that it succeeded. I doubt that a Thundercats movie would work (hence my comment about the trailer probably being cooler than any movie ever could be).

That said, I’m sure it would be done better than “a bunch of people with paint on their face.” :-D I could see a CGI movie like the recent TMNT one. That might work.

  3. I guess I’m too young or something, I never watched Thundercats and that trailer makes no sense to me what-so-ever. Hmmm

  4. Well done trailer, and definitely a lot of work put into it. I think I saw just a little bit from Galaxy Quest, too, and I’m sure that I saw Wolverine, just to confirm that sighting.

  5. I saw this and had maybe a small yearning to see a real Hollywood rendition of the famous cartoon. But then I realized, that cartoon is about super hero cats. That will never work.

Aaron, what did you think about the G.I. Joe trailer?
