Call me a cynic but House looks like a bad combination of heavy handed Christianity and stereotypical Ring style horror.*
I really don’t think Peretti has rocked anything since the Oath (maybe the Visitation), his last movie was terrible, as was the book. Monster was also mediocre, okay, so I liked the second teen series book, but that doesn’t make me to excited about House. Dekker, I haven’t read so maybe.
On another note, the Watchmen stuff is interesting. it’s too bad we have so many great stories held up in courtrooms, Watchmen, The Hobbit, etc. It’s also too bad we live in a world where creative and intellectual value needs to be protected from scum.

If they put the kind of budget into The Oath that they clearly have into House, it’d rock. The upside is that Peretti is getting more and more films funded with bigger and bigger budgets. When I met him a few years back, he said the goal was to ultimately work up to The Oath and even The Darkness books if possible. So there’s that.
Dekker…as you can see, I’m currently trying him out. I didn’t realize this particular series I picked up was fantasy, and I’m not loving it so far. I’ll have to try one of his thrillers (which I thought was the only genre he wrote) and see how it compares.
I’m totally looking forward to House; been waiting for movie news since I first heard about it, oh I don’t know, at least a year ago. I’ve read most of Dekker’s books (I recommend Three if you want thriller. Also a movie, which wasn’t bad.), and some of Peretti, and love them both.
And thanks. Now I can’t get the Bad Horse music out of my head.
“The Eveil League of Evil, is watching so beware…”
Gah!
I have to agree with you that I would hope Pixar would be a little more careful with their adaptation of John Carter. I think if more people realized that was Gene Roddenberry’s inspiration for Star Trek they’d HAVE to be more faithful.
House, is going to to good. It hit’s theaters November 7th and the trailer is pretty awesome. The ‘R’ rating is sure to stir up some controversy. I’m excited to see how this plays out. One things for sure, I’ll be in the theater hope to see you there!
